I am writing this from the comfort of a train taking me from Toronto to Montreal. I love traveling by train… I love it more in Japan or Europe, but even in Canada, trains are such a civilized way to get from Point A to Point B.

For example, really comfy chairs! Cup holders! For holding cups!

I know it sounds silly, but the number of times that I have been on a bus, herded like cattle, is frankly a little shocking. Oh, and we have a meal included in our trip… I don’t know how good it will be, but hey, included! My only real regret in this regard is that the trip is only about 5 hours…

I will also mention in passing that the series Pandora’s Star by Peter Hamilton involves interplanetary train travel in a way that makes sense and also made me enormously jealous of that particular future. Ah, maybe one day…

There is one tiny, teeny downside to train travel, however… and that is that I can work during the transit! Which I am going to do.
